Ubisoft movies AND a new Thundercats?

I hear nerdy news bits ALL the time from my vast collection of blogs, youtube channels, and magazines, but when I heard these two bits I just HAD to share. So, apparently the Ubisoft Motion Pictures has decided to start on the productions of not only an Assassin’s Creed movie, but other movies based off of the Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon franchises as well! Though currently the screenplays are still in motion to be written so they have consistant story lines that would make a movie enjoyable by not only already loyal fans, but by those who know little to nothing of the franchises.

“Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises – that’s why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games’ primary target audience,”
– Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution.

I also hear that a 3D Raving Rabbids series is in the works as well… 😉

Speaking of series, the recent news from Cartoon Network is that they are coming out with a new Thundercats series! One that goes back and explores the creation and roots of the Thundercats team, and their legacy in general. In fact, a trailer for the series is already up on the Thundercats fan page, unfortunately it cannot be embeded, but you can still see it after liking Thundercats on face book. The new series doesn’t make up for them canceling Toonami, but its a start. 🙂

I would say the younger Antonio Banderas, but he’s got some age on him now, and his accent wouldn’t really match. BOO! x3
