Science Fiction Spaceship Size Comparison Poster

The world of science fiction is full of fantastic and fabled spacecrafts. From the small transport-class models to the huge planet destroyers, the variety in form and function is amazing. Authors, movie makers, special effects designers, and video game graphic artists have created some memorable ships.

Deviant Art contributor DirkLoechel has created a nearly comprehensive poster of sci-fi ships. He includes ships between a minimum of 100 meters and 24000 meters, from universes such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly, Halo, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Wall-E, Monsters vs. Aliens, and so many more!

For a real-world reference point, the ISS (International Space Station) is included on the poster. That thing looks tiny compared to some of the monstrous sci-fi ships!

Note: I find it amusing and entirely appropriate that Dirk explains the missing Doctor Who TARDIS like this. “It’s both too large and too small for the chart.” Well played, Dirk.

Being a generous guy, Dirk allows people to share and print his poster for free. What a nice nerd!

Here is the poster. You will definitely need to click and enlarge it, and then you will have to scroll around to find your favorite ships. We appreciate the amount of research and time it took Dirk to produce this masterpiece.
